The Institute was initially operating from its temporary site in Madhav Institute of Technology and Science Gwalior(MITS). The Institute had been provided nearly 15,000 sq. feet covered area in the high voltage laboratory complex of MITS without charging the monthly rent with a proviso that the permanent fixtures created should become the property of MITS after IIITM moves to its permanent location. IIITM Gwalior would carry to its new campus all the equipment, furniture, AC and electric fittings and all other items, which are transportable.
This space was remodeled and renovated to create two laboratories for computing and IT, faculty offices, offices for accounts, administration, academic section and two lecture rooms.
